In this stunning bridge book between Cress and Winter in the bestselling Lunar Chronicles, Queen Levana’s story is finally told.
Mirror, mirror on the wall,Who is the fairest of them all?
Fans of the Lunar Chronicles know Queen Levana as a ruler who uses her “glamour” to gain power. But long before she crossed paths with Cinder, Scarlet, and Cress, Levana lived a very different story – a story that has never been told . . . until now.
Marissa Meyer spins yet another unforgettable tale about love and war, deceit and death. This extraordinary book includes full-color art and an excerpt from Winter, the next book in the Lunar Chronicles series.
“The fairest queen that Luna had ever known.”
I preordered my copy of ‘Fairest’ from Chapters, and it came to me almost a week before it was due out. Tuesday! I was SO excited. I opened it up, and the first thing I noticed was the inside cover.
It is absolutely stunning. The illustration of the castle on Luna is absolutely breathtaking.
I remember reading Cinder and Scarlet and wanting to know so much more about Queen Levena. This book gives it all to you, from her childhood, until the moment she decides she needs earth in her grasp. It starts out at the beginning with the death of her parents, and how they treated her like she was a burden. We meet Cinders mother, Channary, and get a look into the woman she was.
The most heartbreaking part of this book, is the history between Queen Levena and her sister. What Channary did to her as a child, and how she treated her, broke my heart. It made me wonder if maybe, just maybe, she would have been a different person had she not of been treated the way she did. Levena ends up doing the exact same thing to Princess Selene, that was once done to her.
Love – The one thing Queen Levena wanted most in life is focused on as well in her story. How she longed to be loved, and how she wished the man she loved, would truly love her back the same way. How she forced people to love her, in hopes of filling the void in her life. She took what she wanted to have for herself, but it backfires in a way that destroys her heart.
Queen Levenas story and history is every bit as ugly as she is underneath all the glamour. It filled in all the questions I had, and I am more excited for Winter. I can’t wait to read it, but I am also heartbroken at the thought of the series ending.
The book comes with the first 3 chapters of Winter, and I can’t wait to get the book in my hands. This is by far, one of my favorites series of all time.
