Aphonic’s Bookish Christmas Card Project 2017

It's (Almost) that time of year again!   Last year I did my very first Christmas Card Project in the book community and it was a big success! A lot of people signed up and took part in the fun, so this year I thought I would bring it back again! What exactly is my Bookish Christmas Card Swap you ask? Well, let me fill you in! Last year, I started this project because there was a lot going on in the world and I felt that maybe some friends in the community could use a smile during the holiday season! So here is how it works: If we're friends on Twitter or Social Media and you're part of the community and you could use a...

I Flew to Toronto to Thank Sarah J Maas

I went on a crazy adventure this past weekend with my great friend Bruno from over at The YA Bibliobaron. It is one of my favorite adventures to date and I would do it over again in a heartbeat. Flying is one of my favorite things. It's such an incredible feeling getting out and seeing new things, meeting new people.   When I learned that Sarah J Maas was going to be in Toronto for a signing, I bought a flight to Toronto and counted down the days. I had known for a long time that I would fly anywhere in Canada to see her, be it Toronto or all the way out West. So on Saturday I hopped on a plane...

I’m Back!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!     Okay. So, I know what you're thinking. It's May and not the new year but this is my first blog post of 2017! I'm a little late to the game but I took the beginning of the year to deal with some personal things and work on, not only my health but also my mental health. I've been reading quite a bit but not writing many reviews. That changes NOW! I'm so glad to be back to writing reviews and taking part in all things mental health and book related! I've missed it so much but I knew that I needed to work on a few things for me before I ventured back into the world of blogging. A lot has...

Aphonic’s Bookish Christmas Card Project

Christmas is coming! Soon, Christmas will be upon us and I'm so excited! Christmas is a big deal in my house. I love having all of my girls together, celebrating the season and indulging in some wonderful Christmas movies! This year, for some people, Christmas might not be as happy and cheerful as it should be. I know A LOT is going on in the world, and a lot of people are scared. Our world seems to be in chaos lately and it breaks my heart to see so many of my friends and followers on Twitter dealing with so much. That is why I have started this project! I'm horrible with names, which is why I'm calling this 'Aphonic's Christmas Card Project!' If...

A court of Thorns and Roses

This post is about to get very personal, and very real. If depression is a trigger for you, I would avoid reading this. I wanted to write a review about A Court of Thorns and Roses but I feel that writing this is going to get my point across so much better. The cover for A Court of Mist and Fury came out last week, and I can't explain just how freaking excited I am for the second book in this series. Look at how awesome the cover is!     I have been wanting to write this post for a long time, so I felt today would be a good day to sit down and touch on a not-so-fun topic. I can't really explain...

Hello 2016!

I can't begin to explain how amazing it feels to be sitting down at the computer, and writing this post. I'm looking forward to getting back into the swing of reviewing and doing challenges this year! I feel much more connected in the book community than I did last year, and that is thanks to some wonderful friends on Twitter. ( You know who you are. I love you guys so much. ) I have really missed this part of my life.     This year, I plan on taking part of two book challenges being hosted by some wonderful friends of mine.  The first one is the #Rockmy TBR challenge hosted by my good friend Sarah from The YA Book Traveller. A...

A moms letter to Scholastic

The beginning of this week has been emotional for me and I needed to write this. My youngest daughter Trinity, who is 6, brought home her normal 3 book orders from Scholastic. I got so excited, not just for her, but for me. I realized just how much I look forward to her bringing them home, so I can order books too. So I snapped a photo of the orders, and posted it to Twitter with this caption, 'One if the greatest parts of my childhood, and now a great part of being a parent.' Then the greatest thing happened. Not only did Scholastic Canada and US favorite and retweet me, Mercer Mayer did as well! Mercer Meyer! The man who has made...
