A Darker Shade of Magic

A Darker Shade of Magic is my first taste of V.E. Schwab's writing, and I just want to sink my teeth into more. It has been a very long time since I have read a fantasy book as amazing and incredible as this one. If there was one thing that I REALLY loved and wanted to share with you - I didn't get bored with any part of this. None of it. I was so intertwined in the story and so sucked in that I found myself just wanting more. Sometimes I find that books drag on and on with describing things or people. This one kept my attention each time it went into a long description. I wanted, no NEEDED,...

Waiting on Wednesday #4

I am a huge fan of graphic novels. I love diving into something new, never knowing what to expect. When I go to my favorite comic book store in Halifax, I know that the people working are going to recommend something I am going to love.  I am totally going to toss them a shout out here - Giant Robot Comics! I love them so much and they always make my husband and I feel welcome when we walk in. It's a great thing where I struggle with my anxiety. I will also mention that I am not being paid for this by any means or sponsored. It's just a great place to feel welcome and immerse yourself in your fandoms...

The Siren

This was my first time reading a book from Keira Cass. I had asked people what they thought of the selection series  on Twitter and I got mixed reviews and feelings. I didn't want to get into a series and find myself not liking it so I felt it was easier to start off by reading her standalone. One if my friends is a HUGE fan of her writing, and I know so many people are as well. After reading this standalone, I feel safe saying she's not the author for me. This book got to the point where I was reading it just for the sake of finishing it and reviewing. I don't like when a book gets to this...

Waiting on Wednesday #3

Choosing my Waiting on Wednesday book was easy this week. A few days ago I finished reading A Darker Shade of Magic, and it was one of the best fantasy books I have read in a long time. It made me want to drop everything in life and just binge read the entire book. Sadly, life got in the way and I didn't finish it in one sitting. I am going to be writing a review about it in the next day or so, so you'll be seeing that soon. I'll add a link when it's up. What does have to do with Waiting on Wednesday? Well, my book for the week is the second book in the series, A Gathering...

Top Ten Tuesday #3 – February 9th, 2016

Top Ten Tuesday is brought to you by the wonderful human beings over at The Broke and the Bookish!   Valentines Day is soon upon us, and love is in the air! ( Or not. Hey. Not all people like the Hallmark holiday! ) I am NOT a big fan of romance books. It's not often I grab a book just fully dedicated to romance but I have been known to read them from time to time. Not all books have to be full of plain love; some of my favorite love scenes come from books filled with adventure. In those cases, I find myself swooning over the men in the books. ( There are FAR too many fictional crushes for me to mention...

February SST: An Interview with Jeff Garvin

Hey, guys! Welcome to the Sunday Street Team!  I had the chance to ask Jeff Garvin, the author of Symptoms of Being Human some questions and he answered openly and honestly. His answers are perfect, and his book touches on a subject we need to speak more openly about in the world. I'm a huge fan of books that touch on subjects we tend to avoid or that make people uncomfortable. Sexuality is one of those things. If you have a chance to grab a copy of this amazing book, I highly recommend it. Pop by in a few days to read my review. Please enjoy my interview with Jeff. At the end, there is a giveaway you can enter to win...

Book & A Cuppa Swap

A few months ago I signed up for a swap over at Chaotic Goddess Swaps, which is put on by Beth and Angie. I didn't know what to expect but it sounded really fun! I am actually a little late posting this but I am really happy to share it with you! I was looking forward to getting to know someone else who loves  books just as much as I do. Much to my surprise, I got partnered up with someone who lives in the same province as me! I know there are fellow book bloggers around my part of Canada but it was still pretty awesome! To top it off - We both have the same name! ( I wonder if...

Waiting on Wednesday #2

It's Wednesday all over again and I am so behind with getting posts up since so much has been going on in life. Never the less, I really wanted to share another book I am looking forward to this year! 2016 has so many titles coming out that make me want to just toss money at the bookstores. This week shouldn't come as a shock to many people, depending on how much we talk on Twitter.  Jodi Meadows is not only one of my favorite authors but she has truly become an amazing friend in my life. She is an automatic preorder for me and I can't wait until it gets to the point where I can order her Forgotten Isles...

Firsts

***SPOILER ALERT*** Oh man. This book went into situations a lot of people avoid, and it hit the ball right out of the park. Sex is an uncomfortable subject for some people. Not just teens, but also adults. I didn't know what this book was about until after I preordered it. I had seen so much talk and wonderful reviews about it on Twitter that I knew I had to jump in and see for myself what was so amazing. Sometimes Twitter lets me down for book suggestions, but this one was freaking awesome! I have a love for books that touch on subjects that make people squirm. Mercy was quite the character with a heartbreaking past. Near the end of the book...
