My Blind Date with ‘The Road’

A few weeks ago, I picked up my very first date night book. I didn't know what to expect, and when I brought it home and opened it while on the phone with my mom on the phone, I told her what my book was. 'The Road' by Cormac McCarthy. She mentioned that the book was turned into a movie, but she had come into the movie halfway, and didn't finish. ( Only because she came to it half way in. ) Where to start - My date was dark, hopeless, and kept me engaged right from the beginning. Because of how much of a hold the book had on me, I finished in quite quickly. 'The Road' is a post-apocalyptic book, based around...

The Nightmare Affair

Looking on Book Outlet one day, this amazing cover popped out at me. Amazing purple with black silhouettes, and I had to have it. ( Once again, the cover grabbed me in. ) and when it came, I curled in bed, and got ready to dive right in! This book was very slow in the beginning, which bothered me greatly. It didn't grab me in a way other books have this year, and I almost considered not finishing the book. ( That has not happened in a long time. ) BUT I told myself that things could build up, and get better further in and I was right. By the end of the book, I was happy with what I had read. My Local Independent Book Store

This past weekend I took a trip into the city from my country home, and went to visit one of my local independent book stores in Dartmouth. ( Nova Scotia, Canada. ) It was a great adventure, and I found some amazing books for great deals! This includes my 3 date night books, one of which I am going to share with you in this post. The Dartmouth Book exchange is over 2000 ft. and is FULL to the brim with books! ( Even the bathroom had shelves full of books. It was amazing. ) It is a store that has been owned and operated by Amy McIsaac for over 14 years. I didn't quite know what to do with myself...

Not That Kind of Girl

[about-author name="Lena Dunham"][book-author][book-publisher][book-info title="Not That Kind of Girl" author="Lena Dunham" number="9780812994995"]   "You've learned a new rule and it's simple: don't put yourself in situations you'd like to run away from" -Lena Dunham Where to start with this amazing book. After seeing so many posts on Instagram from the fellow book bloggers I follow, I decided I needed to head right out and grab this. A lot of people wrote about how they could relate to this, how funny it was, and how it was a must need for any fan of Lena Dunham. I had watched half a season of girls, and I loved it so much. Knowing Lena had created, written, directed and starred in it, and knowing how much criticism...
